Dress Forms, you might call them Mannequins...I call mine NINA Garcia

Never would  I have thought that the purchase of a dress form would make me feel more "designerly".   Yet it has!  I have wanted one for a while now, and knew I would get use out of it.  Since I am not a dress maker it was never top priority.  This mannequin will be used to fit HandBags as well as waist and hip Belts.  

I asked around my COLLECTIVE  (friends, fellow designers, my F.I.T alum) where to go for an inexpensive mannequin.   Megan Schwalm of Pier 43 told me exactly where to go.   So one snowy night my partner and I went to get her.

Yes her name is NINA Gargcia!!!!  She is a size 12, (a womanly figure) and is by the Royal Brand.  I bought her second hand which will help reduce my carbon footprint.   Try 315 W. 38th st. at SewMark  if your in the market for one.  I can't wait to use her.
