Rosie the Riveters 1938

Rosie the Riveters | 1938

Young African American women employed by the Douglas Aircraft Company in Long Beach, California, 1938. Two of thousands of African Americans who moved to California and through the West Coast during World War II to find work in arms and munitions plants.

This is my new favorite picture.  It sums up a part of my cultural-family-and personal style history.  It is a foreshadowing of what could be know as "california" style.  From the modern day rockabillys', to the girls of east LA.   It is a snapshot of keeping it sexy, but able to work a power tool.
I am so inspired by these ladies.  Maybe its because my grandfather worked/retired from this same Douglas Aircraft.  Whatever the case these Woman ROCK!!!!
